Walk with me

Boardwalks meandering over and through swamps allow us to experience life within the swamp. This is one of my favorite cypress swamps in Florida and a favored spot on the walk for me.

Trees in the fog

Trees can speak if one listens.It was evident this group of trees were enjoying the misty start to their day.

River fog before sunrise

One of the best parts of camping is waking up and being at the location you want to photograph without having to get up at crazy o’clock and drive hours to be there in time to see a sight like this.

Moody atmosphere

The sun was peeking just above the horizon and the water was warmer than the air which caused mist to dance along the surface of the water.

Beautiful light

An afternoon drive was interrupted when I came upon this scene in the flatwoods. The late day light lit up the tree trunks that are normally in shade and looked so serene.

Sunrise at Mount Moran

Long before sunrise the hopes for a good sunrise were dim the sky was completely cloud covered and yet at daybreak beautiful light and colors found their way into the moment. This view is from Oxbow Bend, Grand Teton National Park.

Behind the wave

Made in camera while hiking. As a photographer one is continually looking at light and textures and this image was created as a result of both. The title is derived by the slight outline of a single palmetto leaf looking as though it had been overtaken by a wave.

Cypress sweep

Cypress trees grow to great heights and they have a sweeping feeling when standing at the base of them as depicted in this photo.

River dance

Have you ever stood along side a body of moving water? Rivers aren't always rushing, this one was moving at a lazy pace. It was peaceful watching is move along and seeing reflections from the trees on the banks and the sky. A slight breeze added gentle ripples that added depth to the peaceful moment.

Magical morning

Some mornings begin ever so plain and when the conditions are right magic happens. The air temperature was cool and there was enough moisture in the ground that as the sun rose above the horizon mist began to fill the air making a magical moment in the pine flat woods.

Cormorants in the trees

Late summer into autumn the cormorants begin to gather into groups and off in a distance they decorated the cypress trees like holiday ornaments in this peaceful landscape.
